Duolingo let its owl be unhinged: posting like he's one missed lesson away from something you'd read about in a group chat. Now he shows up in memes that have nothing to do with Spanish or French.

Most people in those comment sections don't have the app. They're there because the owl is funnier than whatever else is in their feed.

Meanwhile a clean founder testimonial gets forty views. That's not the algorithm. Your posts aren't competing with your industry anymore; they're competing with the most entertaining thing in the feed.
